Aloha and Welcome

Natural Farming Hawai’i was incorporated in 2008 to transmit recipes for cultural revival formulated by Master Cho of Korea to inoculate a network for healthy growth in Hawai’i.

A pediatrician named Dr. Hoon Park of Hilo found out about Master Cho’s famous no smell no clean pig pen and organized a trip to visit farms implementing Cho Global Natural Farming CGNF practices in Korea. This website documents the translation and transformation and acts as one of the major sources of dissemination of this vital knowledge of natural farming to the english speaking world.

Cho’s technology uses Indigenous Micro Organisms to create deep water and air rich soils thriving with life to pump nutrients into healthy plant roots to grow mouth watering produce. His system consists of preparing a soil foundation and then regularly spraying edible solutions on the plant in harmony with nature. The CHO natural farming system is the most optimal in every respect I have personally investigated.

A low cost implementation of the same concept was further elucidated by Gil Carandang demonstrating natural farming solutions unique ability to grow successfully on any budget. Every system on Earth is interacting with microbes, so learning how to work with the invisible life force of the soil helps the farmer save money and grow with life.

One of the most important aspect of farming today is scientifically validating evidence. Can claims of benefits be proven? Yes, with a generally available microscope as presented by Elaine Ingham. More life in the soil, specifically beneficial fungus, and crops grow better, have more dis-ease resistance, and simply taste better.

Natural Farming Hawai’i holds a monthly get-together every second Tuesday of the month at 6pm in Hilo with the intention to share experiences, feature experts in our community, disseminate information, announce and coordinate upcoming events, share and exchange seeds, and celebrate the abundance of Natural Farming with a potluck of the food we’ve grown. The evenings are made possible by many supporters, so come out, meet the Natural Farming community, share food, stories, and aloha! Check out our Event Calendar for more Natural Farming events.

Our Vision and Mission

We focus on family farms, future farmers, and the conversion of traditional commercial farmers to adopt Natural Farming as a means to promote awareness of healthy, prosperous, and sustainable agriculture in the state of Hawai’i, the nation and the world.
